SAPconsole telnet configuration

Former Member

Hi...

I'm trying to configure SAPConsole on a Windows Server 2003. The initial purpose will be only to test its use, so I do not want to buy any license of a telnet server.

A SAP colleague told me I could use the telnet server included on "Windows Services for Unix 3.5", so I installed but, as usual, the Microsoft documentation is not very clear.

Could somebody help me on this?

I need a freeware telnet server that supports VT220 emulation...

Or is there another way to configure SAPConsole?

Thanks

Antonio

Hi,

unfortunately I have never used the SAPConsole myself I guess, but if you need a telnet server - there should be one included in Windows already - not in the Unix service pack, butas well in the normal Windows Server pack. Watch the Windows HowTo guides. Perhaps this one will help you:

Hi Oliver...

thanks for answering....

but unfortunately, SAPConsole needs a telnet server with VT220 emulation support and the Windows telnet server does not support it.

So, I'll need a new one.

thanks

Hi,

ok, I see.... In that case.. sorry, I have no idea about a free available VT220 server. All software I know for this job needs a licence fee.

Oliver

See OSS note 1043241, which references the Telnet server applications which have been tested together with SAPConsole.

Hi experts,

We are implementing RF in warehouse using Wm module and SAPCONSOLE 7.10.

We would want to use Georgia Soft.We will have about 70 terminals connected.

what type of characteristic must the telnet server have?(memory, ram, cpu ,SO...).

Can it be virtual?

Thanks a lot

Hi

You may try installing the evaluation version - Goergia Software telnet server on Windows 2000 or NT server ( this is limitation) and telnet client on the scanner.

We implemented and the actual system is functioning well in production.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

yes, we had to go with Georgia product and pay for it. I couldn't find anything free on the "market"...

Anyway, it is working now and that's what matters most.

Thanks for all the answers, anyway.

Hi antonio;

how did you configure the georgia softworks software, the sapconsole manual stats that you have to assign sapcnsl.exe as command interpreter, how dod you do that?

Greetings,

Launch sapconsole from the Logon Script.

This is essentially a batch file where you can set environment variables and perform other commands.

Go to GSW (http://www.georgiasoftworks.com) and search for Logon Scripts if you need more info.

Thanks,

David
