Dear All,
I m very much confused abt stock transfer and transfer posting . Will anybody able to differentiate them ?????
Somasundaram
Hi,
Stock Transfer:Stock transfers can occur either within one plant or between two plants or company codes.
Transfer posting: A transfer posting usually refers to a change in a materialu2019s stock (for example, release from quality inspection, accepting consignment material). In a transfer posting, the material can remain in its original storage bin or be transferred.

Dear Somasundaram,
Stock transfer is nothing but supply of goods from stock to production, goods issue. In Stock Transfer physical movement of material is done and the entry is post in the system.
Transfer Posting is nothing but transfer of materials between plants, storage locations. In Transfer Posting it is not necessary to move material from one place to another but entry can be passed in the system and material can be moved in the system itself.

Stock transfers and transfer postings are used to represent organizational-relevant transfers within the company (for example, decentralized storage).
