Hi Experts
Can we maintain one material code for the same material in two storage locations?
My client is a manufacturer of assembled products and handles projects. They don't want repetition of material codes and thats why they want same material no. for two storage locations. Ideally, these locations are not stores but sometimes maintained for storage purposes for small components.
Pls. help me out.
Hi
Material creation is client specific. You can use the same material code in any plant and any storage location. Even if you are having different company codes in a client. You can use the single material code in the different company codes also.
You can extend your material to any plant and storage location through MM02. So for storage location extension you can use MMSC.

hi
This is std. functionality of SAP
No need to create seperate code for storage locations
use MMSC to extend material to new Storage location

yes you can do so but check your organization structure first both the storage location should be assigned to same plant.
Then go to MM01 and extend the material to the other storage location, also you can do so by using tran MMSC.
