Hi all

Could anyone let me know what is the relationship between Work Status and the Work State in Application ?

In my BPC, I can use Work Status to lock data and I don't see the useful of the Work State in Application.

Thank you.

Halomoan

Both workstatus settings have each there own functionality attached to it:

'general workstatus':

Here you can define what workstatus are possible and the locking options per each individual workstatus and work area (like comments, journals, docs, data).

These settings will be equal for all applications.

'workstatus per applicaiton'

There are two functionalities attached to this section:

1. define the dimension which you can lock, one of the dimensions must be owner. this last dimension must contain an owner propertie which allows you to set who is allowed to change the workstatus for the members of the 'owner' dimension

2. define the, what I call, lockaccount. for all dimensions that are define as 'workstate=NO', you can select a member of this dimension. The data value of the intersection of these members in combination with the selected members in the change workstatus screens will be checked when you change the status. If there is a value on this intersection, you cannot change the workstatus. If you want to use this functionality, you also have to set the application parameter 'workstatusvalidate' to YES.

This functionality will asure you that nobody can change the status if there are still validation differences for the intersection that you want to change the status for.

Hope this helps,

Alwin

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by work state, but perhaps these are two terms for the same concept.

Work status is, as you stated, for locking data (and controlling the workflow process of data submission & approval).

Where do you see references to work state? In the product, or documentation, or elsewhere?

Hi Tim

Sorry, Actually I want to mention the Work Status Settings in Application (you can see it below Application folder) and the Work Status.

And the Work State is inside the Work Status Settings of Application.

I tried to disallow user from entering the same data region by configure the Work Status Settings in Application according to the BPC Admin Guide.pdf but no luck, even the VALIDATION account has value or no value, user can change the data region

At this moment, to archive above purpose, I just use Work Status by update the status of the data region from Unlock to Submitted (where in Submitted, only Owner has full access and Work Status is controlled by Manager).

Then I came with question, what is the purpose of the Work Status Settings in Application if I just only can use Work Status for locking.
