Hello Kavish,

yes, we're planning for an 1709 FPS01 update of the appliance (this will only affect new instances, the existing instances will not be upgraded automatically).

Expected delivery early Q2.

Best,

Joerg

Hello Joerg,

Would it be allowed for customers to apply/upgrade to FPS01 from the base 1709 levels themselves?

Hello Rakesh,

yes, you can upgrade to FPS01 on your own, however, you will be asked for a maintenance certificate by the upgrade tools (can be obtained via https://support.sap.com/licensekey) .

Thanks Joerg. That clarifies.

I apologize in advance if this is a daft question. If we wanted to follow Rakesh's approach to upgrade the CAL instance ourselves, do we also need to have a separate maintenance contract, or can we obtain a maintenance certificate as part of the paid CAL subscription and system licenses?

Thank you,

Daniel

Hi Daniel,

typically an S/4 contract includes this.

It’s definitely not related to the CAL subscription license.

Can you check in the above license key site if you see the option to generate a maintenance key under your customer number ?

Thanks Joerg,

I can see Maintenance Entitlement in the license key application, is that considered the same as Maintenance License? Sorry, I don't have a Basis resource at hand that could probably tell me all this ...

Regards,

Daniel
