how the explosion takes place in the BOM.
plz answer me...............
Hi Mohan,
We have to mantain BOM for material and their components make some settings has to be done.
Goto T.Code CS01
there we maintain materials for BOM item
these are two types
a) We Maintain Itemcategory group ERLA for the main items
here the main items will shows price but not for the components
Becoz of the main item itemcategeory is TAQ.This is relevant for pricing.Where as Sub items itemcategeory is TAE not relevant for pricing. For this we maintain Field Structure scope 'A' in TAQ
b) We Maintain Itemcategory group LUMF for the main items
here the main item will not shows price but sub items will be relevant for price.
Becoz of the main item itemcategeory is TAP.This is Not relevant for pricing.Where as Sub items itemcategeory is TAN relevant for pricing. For this we maintain Field Structure scope 'A' in TAQ
After this we maintain Item categeory determination for BOM items.
Sal Doc Itemcat.Group Usage HighLevelItem DefaultitemC
OR ERLA - - TAQ
OR NORM - TAQ TAE
OR LUMF - - TAP
OR NORM - TAP TAN
The above all setting for single level BOM item
If u want to multiple level for BOM Item for this the following setting has to be done.
OR ERLA - TAQ TAE
OR NORM - TAQ TAQ TAE
When u create a sales order after all the above settings to be done
U will get BOM explosion in sales order
IF U SATIESFY MY ANSWER GIVE ME REWARD POINTS

Hi
The BOM Explosion in sales order is controlled by the item category, where we specify the single level or multilevel explosion. Please check the item category fields in VOV7.

Dear Mohan,
The explosion will not takes place in the BOM,The BOM Explosion will takes place in the sales order or in other documents, based on the item category BOM explosion settings.
For example:- You created BOM in CS01 transaction with One header material and three component(Sub items).
When you enter the one Header material in the sales order the other three components (Sub items) will come automatically that is called BOM Explosion.
I hope it will will clear for you,
Regards,
Murali.

Dear Mohan
The selected BOM is exploded one level. The BOM items are then copied to the order as components. If there are phantom assemblies in the BOM then they are exploded until a buildable level is reached.
A BOM item is not copied to the production order if:
==> Its item status marks it as not relevant for production
==> Its item category marks it as a document or PM structure element
BOM sub-items are generally not copied to the order.
Explosion Over Multiple BOM Structures
With multi-level BOM structures there can be large time intervals between the explosion dates of the individual assemblies. If BOM (alternatives) have changed through time because of various demands (for example, because individual components are exchanged or because of changed production techniques) it can happen that a commonly-used assembly is manufactured according to different BOMs.
To make sure that for a particular unit of production the whole BOM structure is always exploded with the same explosion date you have the option in the planned order of specifying a serial number.
You can use the serial number to specify a common explosion date for all BOM levels. This so-called fixed-key date is stored in the serial number. The BOM explosion takes place for all levels with this fixed-key date.
A serial number can only be assigned in the planned order and cannot be added or changed in the production order.
thanks
