dear
when you say that you enter the check number, do you mean that the manual checkbox is checked and the check number is entered manually? if not, please kindly refer to the followings. this is from a sap note which the status is for checking , however the contents are verified by my testing.
1. When using prenumebred cheques (Defined at Administration - System
Initialisation - Print Preferences - Per Document tab - Cheques for
Payment), the first cheque number is defined in the House Bank
Accounts (Administration - Setup - Banks - Hosue Bank Setup). All
cheques printed for that bank will then follow in increasing
sequence.
2. When an Outgoing Payment (Banking - Outgoing Payments - Cheques for
Payment) is added, the cheque number in the Payment Means (Go To -
Payment Means) is displayed as 0 in the 'Check No.' field. It will
remain as 0 until the cheque is printed.
3. When the cheque is printed it is given a number. This is firstly
visible in the 'Cheque for Payment' - 'Cheque No.' field.
4. To view this number in the Payment Means of the Outgoing Payment,
the cheque must be given the status confirmed. To confirm that the
cheque has been printed, change its status to, 'Confirmed' in the
'Print Status' field in the 'Check Number Confirmation' window. This
can be done in two places:
'Check Number Confirmation' window, which appears when the
printing icon has been selected for a cheque in 'Cheques for
Payment'.
Banking - Cheque Number Confirmation, after a cheque has been
printed .
