Change data capture not working for ABAP CDS views

Hello ,

I built a delta enabled ABAP CDS view in S4HANA 1709 system.The delta enabled field is LastChangeDateTime.

I did an initial load which brought all records successfully.This put a pointer in ODQMON. Things worked fine till there.

But subsequently all deltas after the INIT load, should be captured and classified by the ABAP CDS view as Insert,Update or Delete records. But this is not happening .

I updated an existing record and when I tried to load that my data load failed saying the source ABAP CDS view in S4HANA is sending that as an INSERT record. Since that record already existed in my target table (came as part of Initial load), my delta load failed,complaining record already exists.

Please advise your thoughts around the capabilities/behavior of ABAP CDS views performing equivalent to similar to BW extractors.

I read that SAP's present and go forward strategy appears to be to replace and retire all BW extractors with ABAP CDS views , but this Change data Capture functionality does not seem to work well.
