We have successfully automated the update of a dimension from an external source, however, we have an issue with when a member is DELETED. Any associated FACT records are stranded in the cube and the cube is now in a basically unusable state. If you were to remove a Member manually via the Admin tool Maintain Dimension Members process, then process the dimension, all associated Fact records are removed. The Automated version does not appear to be using the same process because it is not removing the Facts.
Because our automated process is also updating the member sheet, I attempted to process the sheet thru the Admin tool. However, it fails because the Cube has an error due to the now missing dimension member.
One can go in manually using a sql statement to remove the errant Fact records then process the cube. However, we have an environment where manual manipulation of the sql tables is frowned upon. Is there anyway from the Admin tool to have the cube rebuilt removing records that are no longer valid?
