Maintenance cost center and Production cost center

Hi Gurus,

We defined various cost centers in master data like General Production,Waste water,Piping etc...Also in Workcenter we tie up with maintenace cost center which is totally different from master data.

My question is...if we write a work order for particualr equipment where cost center may be 0111-2000 and using the work center has 0222-2003 (maintenace cost).Where the cost will get reflected ?

Whether it goes to the master data cost center or the cost center tied up with workcenter. If it goes to WC then what about if we use multiple WC for different operations?

Also if we reserve spare parts for tht work order where the cost of the spart part will go and sit ?

I am really confused about the maintenance cost and cost against WO.

Please advice.

Regards,

Vijay.

hi vijay,

Work order is temporary cost collector in this u have senders like materials, work center labour[cost center] etc and your receiver is maintained in settlement rule it can be a cost center given in eqpt which is mainly production cost center....You can find the same in costing reports in costing tab of work orders ...

Hello,

Cost of the resources like material, labour got credited to workorder. After the settlement of the workorder to the cost center order get credited and respective costcenter get debited.

Workorder is the basket where all the cost get collected and you can settle workorder to respective costcenter maintained in settlement rule of the workorder.

The work Order is normally not the cost bearer. you have the freedom to settle cost to different objects in the system, like the above answer menthioned, it could be a cost center, sales order, WBS, equipment ID and so on.

Work center can have maintenance department cost center

Equipments can have production department cost center.

Workorder will have settlement costcenter default from equipment. So when you post labor (from work center work center) and material Workorder will collect cost and settle against production cost center (or may be production overhead cost center).

Workorder will also collect material/service cost.

Workorder is simply cost object that can move labor, material and service cost from other departments to production cost center.

Hope this helps-
