Hi,
in BI 7.0, I have created a workbook with Multiple tabs, with each tab having different workbooks in it. I have 8 variables that are coming up in the selection screen. I dont need one of the Variable to be displayed in the selection screen. I know that we can go to the query & uncheck the option variable as Mandatory to make it not display. But the problem is, that variable is not in any of the queries that i used to create workbooks, its in some other query. But its appearing in this selection screen. So, is there any option to make the variable not to appear in the selection screen?
Thanks for your time.

Murali
In Query goto the Variable properties, goto the Details tab and uncheck the option Variable is Ready for Input.

Any other help on this?
By the way, where will be the INTERACTION tab in Query Designer. I read in a Thread that we can change the Variable selections in Interaction tab, but i couldnt find that tab anywhere in Query Designer or Workbook setting. Please suggest a solution.
Thanks.

Hi,
i looked at this post. The statements could mean:
a) Is it possible that the Properties were set to "Save and reuse variable values" for that query?
-> This option is is provided in BEx Analyzer -> Workbook settings -> Variable tab
-> option "process variables on refresh"
=> This means if u select some variable values these will be stored on workbook lvl. I had the case that i checked this option and transported the workbook, all variable values are transported from dev to prod system.
b) Where do i find the option Refresh query when opening workbook in Bex Analyzer 7.0?
-> Goto workbook settings -> DataProvider -> Goto properties ->check/uncheck "resore initial query view on refresh"
-> This means, if u enable this option the query appears as its designed in query designer. No navigation state / workbook view is activated.
I hope it clarifies
Tobias
Hi,
I think you can try using personilization of variables.

Hi Shambu & Ravi,
Thanks for your replies.
Ravi - In Personalization of variables we can only personalise the values of the varibales and make it appear in the selection screen. I dont find any option like making a variable disappear.
Shambu - Your idea looks good but the problem is i shouldnt create any new objects in the system.
Any other suggestion please.
Thanks & Regards,

Yes, create a new calculated figure based on this figure. multiply with -1 and display this CKF. Hide the original KF.
Thanks..
