We are using the Leave Request functionality in ESS, and are running into an issue:
For some users (not all), when they submit a leave request, and try to select an approver (using the advanced search F4), they can pull up their own name, but noone else.
Is this a backend issue, security issue, or portal issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated
It does sound like backend security to me. Especially if some users can see others and some can't. Sounds like some missing authorizations. We get that with some managers able to see their people in MSS and some not....that's the first place I check.

To further explain our solution, we isolated the issue by giving them SAP_ALL, which proved that it indeed was a security issue. Since we can't give a user SAP_ALL, we created a role that allows for that user to display infotype 1 (Org Mgmt) for all users.....This allowed for the user in the portal to search for an approver, while at the same time, limiting them to infotype 1 display (assuming that A. they can access the backend directly, and B. they can access PA20,30, or 40).
Thanks for all of the suggestions and help

Hi,
Just ensure whether the approvers are maintained in the back end....
