What is difference between Without Release Key and With Release Key in Create Engineering Change Request [CC01].

Change number without release

This determines that the changes with reference to the change master record are automatically released for the operative areas (costing, planning, production).

Choose this function if the changes with reference to this change master record are to be taken into account in all operative areas and without a release procedure.

After you have saved the changes with reference to the change master record, the changes are taken into account in all productive areas.

Change number with release

Determines that the changes made with reference to the change master are released by a ( release key) for the operative areas (costing, planning, production).

Ex:

By using the release key, you can determine that BOM changes with reference to the change master record N-1 are only released for costing and not for planning or production.

Dear Madan,

1.Generally Change Number with Release key is used in creating/changing BOM.

2.In order to have a better control for the creation/change of a business object say

BOM,classification,routing etc this release key is used.

3.Unless if the release key is not set in change mode of change number that's in T code CC02,the creation

or change that you have made using that Change number will not be effective or valid.

4.For your understanding I'm giving an example,say you have created a change number with release key

and let it be 500000005000.Using this Change number you have created a BOM for a material say X.

At this point without setting the release key in CC02,If you run MRP for that particular material ,you will get

an error message that no BOM exists,though you can see in the system.

5.Now you have to set the release key to 01 in CC02 for that Change number 500000005000.

6.Now only the BOM becomes effective.

7.Sometimes you would have created a BOM for a material just for your testing purpose(R & D

Department) ,now you done want someone who's in other department say MRP controller ,should not use

this BOM means this is one way of control.

8.So for material creation in MM01,you can use a change number without any release key.

Hi,

If you create a Change note with release key and after creating a BOM using the particular Change number, got to T code CC02,enter the Change number and enter the Release key no as 1,otherwise the system will show that there's no Valid BOM for the material.

Generally without release key is used for creating nd changing materials,routings,documents etc

How can I Release the ECO which I created in through CC01?

How can I approve the ECO to make change in Material Master.
