what is the best planning strategy for the television manufacturing company
how would be the process take place. like how will be assmy line for routing
what is the process timing with each assmy line in general
Normally television Mfg is Make to Stock
So you can go for 11 for Fert , 10 for Assy/components for simple scenarios
If there is a specificrequirement 40 for Fert

As i know about the v industry, they are not working on MTO,
So my suggestion is think from MTS point of view only.
NOw in MTS also there are different different types of components like sevral electronic components(resister, capacitor etc etc.)for this u can go with consumption base planning.
secondly some long lead components r also there for this also u can go with CBD and safty stock.
third one is some inhose subassly products like PCB,FBT,cabinet, tuner etc etc. These u can plan through MRP and strategy 10.
Last is u r final product i.e Television for this u have to discuss with clients planning dept. i.e how they r planning means r they getting req. from various depots.?
if it is like this then u need to go for sop.
and if they r planning independantly then u straight way go for planned independant req.
For television final prduct strategy will be 11

There are lot of options to use various strategy type in PP. It is very critical to decide on the right one as that will drive the whole functinality.
I would sincerely advice you to discuss with your client about how the planning and MRP, Execution happens and then based on your understanding you can choose the right strategy type or group.
thanks

For TV there would be various models and classes so , you may go for SOP for production plan . Your sale team can build sale plan based on history in market . You can build production plan as per companyu2019s practice . You can have option of target stock level or target days supply or simply synchronous to sales . Television group will have subgroups like flat screen , LCD or based on screen size in inches . When you disaggregate them you will get actual plan on product level ( TV ) that is which TV has to produce in what quantity .
Further your TV will have some common components and some variants . You can define reorder point in material master for some common components or assemblies , so that it will always have certain qty in stock .
For some expensive parts you can wait till customer order or confirmation comes . Strategy 40 can also be useful along with 10 and 11 . Or planning with final assy 41(MTO) for particular TVs which can be assembled upon receipt of sale order .

Hi Raj,
I am working on TV industry project only. We are having the production lot panning. For that we are using production lot strategy. Even you read the notes of SAP, for production lot palnning, it says it is used in electronic industry.
We can use use both MTS and MTO. It depends on the organisation policy.

Hello,
I think , first can you decide whether the client want to go for variant configuration.
If yes then the strategies could be different than 10 or 40.
There could be cutomertspecific requrements in tele-vision.
If you want to handle customer specific requirements , then Use of variant configuration will be proper.
In television , there can be various facilities, but some facilities are required by the customer some are not required by customer.
If you have above scenario then go for variant configuration.
Then you can use Variant configuration make to order for only final assembly.
and for subasemblies you can go for make to stock.
You can do the planning based on the PIR for the subassblies.
PIR for the subassemblies are required because you may not be knowing the exact requirements for variant configured prodcut.
If the above process is as per your requireemnt then you can go for MTS strategy 70 for the sub assemblies.
Here the sales order for the final assembly will consume the PIR for the sub assmeblies.
My suggestion is , first you decide your business process with the client and then map the same with SAP strategies.
