How the Opportunity Status is set - what is the dependency on other fields??

Dear C4C Experts,

How the opportunity status is set in C4C. I do not see any user status profile setting and the status is set based on multiple field values. But I am not able to come to a concrete conclusion on which fields has an impact on the "Status".

One field I am clear on is "Probability" - but I see some discrepancy in the system based on this field also. Could you please clarify how this is set?? Any help is highly appreciated.... Thanks in advance!!

Regards,

Siraj

Hello Siraj,

Based on life cycle status which defined in business configuration - Activity - opportunity, status of opportunity will be available in opportunity transaction document.

Standard Status: Open, In Process, Won, Lost and Stopped.

Once you create opportunity, it is in Open status.

When opportunity is in Open status then we will have only in process status.

When opportunity change (manually) In Process status then you will have Won, Lost and Stopped option.

The moment an Opportunity is set to Won or Lost, the only possible status would be In Process.

In process status acts like a middle point to all of the other statuses.
That is the reason when an Opportunity is in Open status, you cannot set it as Stopped directly.
It needs to be In Process first.

When changing the status of the opportunity to won or lost the dependent fields Probability (Chance of Success), Weighted Value and Close Date are automatically updated.

With status of Won or Lost, reason for status field should be maintained.
