When I try to install this version of a ABAP Netweaver in my notebook, with Windows XP, an error message appers saying that "java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: runException in thread main "
I've already configured the enviroment variable and I've tested running javac through command line . The Microsoft Loopback adapter is configured too ( I think that this error dosent have any relation to this configuration).
The only topic that ive found in forum its here: and the solution propoused there doesn't works for me.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks
Hello Natali,
the link mentioned in your post isn't working so I can't check which solution was presented there.
But is your drive formatted with NTFS and do you have administrative user rights?
Also is your computer name not longer than 13 characters?
If you get the error message again please post a bigger part of the error message and the content of the mentioned log file.

Hi,
oh ok, I think I've now understood your problem.
You get this error message right after starting the setup and you don't get even the welcome page, right?
Some days ago there was also someone with this problem --> [link|;
Unfortunately he didn't post the final solution.
So as you've already set the environment variable and tested the Java installation with "java -version" I can only suggest to re-download the package because this was solution in this thread --> [link|;
Not much, but perhaps it helps.

Some comments about what did you said:

Yes, after.

Its the link that I've tried do paste here in my first post and I've followed the steps related with environment variables and disabled ports.

I think that my .jar is not corrupted because I've tried to install in another machines and the error doesn't occur and I've used this DVD in the same notebook, but in a VM without problems.
The OS in VM is WIndows XP Professional and now is Windows XP Professional SP2.
Maybe a problem with SP2?
Sorry for my wrong english.
Thanks
Hi,
it's me again
I think that my .jar is not corrupted because I've tried to install in another machines and the error doesn't occur and I've used this DVD in the same notebook, but in a VM without problems.
Well, then the files should be really ok.
Maybe a problem with SP2?
No, the trail version is working fine with SP2.
Before I have to leave the office now two additional advices/attempts from me:
1. Please make sure that you've deactivated all installed antivirus- and/or firewall-programs while installing - e.g. the in SP2 included one.
2. Try to download the latest Java version from
3. Install it to a new directory
4. Point the environment variable JAVA_HOME to the new directory
5. Restart your computer
6. Test the proper installation of Java with java -version
7. Try to restart the setup.
If it fails again please check the event log of Windows. Perhaps there is a helpful error message logged.
But I cross the fingers that it's working.

Norman Schröder
Sorry for my wrong english.
I think I have to say the same
But I can understand you very well so don't think about it.
Hello Natali,
sorry, I don't speak any single word Spanish so I don't understand your last message.
But I think it's still not working, right?
So here is a last idea:
1. open up a new Windows console window (Start --> Run... --> cmd --> Ok)
2. type in java -jar <path to your extracted archive>imagesetup.jar
It has to look like this --> screenshot
The easiest way is to already write java -jar in the windows console and drag the setup.jar from the Windows explorer to the console window. It will automatically insert the full path of it.

Hi Norman, sorry for the last post in portuguese. For a moment I forget the language used here
I've tried writing the java -jar<path> and the installer begin the process but a message appears:
Could not found JVM.
Well, I've just one environment variabel (JAVA_HOME) with the path C:\Program Files\Java in users variables.
I've tested including in the system variables with path and classpath values too.
And now, what can I do?
Pierre
I'll try using 1.4.2 version.
Thanks again
Hi Norman
I've tried to install using j2re-1_4_2_17 and at prompt appears an exception: java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError(Unsupported major.minor version 4.9.0). I think that is a problem with the jre version. Can you tell me what version are you using to try with a smilar environment ? Are you usin system variables or user variables?
Thanks again
I remember that in my first and successful installation (at Windows XP in a VM)
I don't have installed any JRE and I don't have configured any environment variable. I think
that the SAP installer has it own JVM. I've tested in two differents machines in this morning
one without a JRE and another with a JRE but no environment variable configured. The installation initiates in the two machines like my first instalation in a VM.
In the system requirements a JRE doesn't appears in the list.
My next ideia is remove the service pack 2 (in my VM I don't have installed the SP2);
Norman, What do you think about?
First I'll try to install without a JRE and later without SP2
Yes, give it a try.
The trial version is definitly working with SP2. Also it would be a big security risk to work with an XP without installed SP2 or SP3, because I think meanwhile there are over 200 hotfixes for XP available.
I really hope you get it working
Good luck!
Greetings,
Norman
I've installed my Windows XP SP2 again and later I've installed Minisap normally without a JRE and environment variable in my OS, I think that Minisap had own JVM.
I can't understandthe origin of the problem, but I think that is related with a Windows XP (SP2 installed manually by Windows Update). Now I using Windows XP with native SP2.
Thanks again
