Record Selection w/ Cascading Pick Lists

Post Author: Horizon57

I am designing a report which has a dozen detail sections, each containing multiple subreports. An access database containing multiple tables, drives each of these subreports with a 1-to-many relationship between the tables and subreports respectively. Essentially, I am creating a standard report that will be run for many groups. The idea is that each of the tables in the database contains a field called 'GroupName' in addition to a few other common fields which will allow me to establish a cascading pick list using GroupName and an additional two fields for record selection.

How do I accomplish this at the Report level, and have the record selection filter down to the subreports within each detail section? Currently any record selection that is done in the main report is not reflected in the subreports. This may also be a data connection issue, since I am unsure if I am passing the fileds to my subreports via the mainreport correctly. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,

Mike

You should be able to edit your subreports and either specify select criteria for the subreport or add a parameter for the subreport.

Yes, I realize that I can edit each subreport individually, but I will have hundreds of subreports. Therefore I was looking for a solution where I can control the database connections and record selection at the main report level and have the subgroups only display the information based on the record selection from the main report.
