Can this be done. Is so how......

Heya all.

I have 2 files.

1 file has ISBN, and the second file has ISBN and CATEGORY, where there can be multiple categories for one ISBN.

I need to create a report that allows me to exclude a CATEGORY (or range of CATEGORIES) from the report, that will then suppress the ISBN. That is if I do not want a certain CATEGORY/ CATEGORIES printing, I do not want the ISBN record printing at all. I was wondering if it could be done using the suppress function, but am having trouble getting it to work.

You could create a group based on whether the category is wanted or not and order this so that the 'not' ones come first. Then in the group header you can check it and set a suppression variable accordingly.
