Can't open tenant DB in Hana Studio

Dear Experts,

I am trying to connect to Hana with Hana Studio. I am able to connect to SYSTEMDB without any trouble. However, I am getting an error, when I select Tenant and type the SID of a tenant DB. I was checking with a query and in hdbsql - the port for the connection is the same for both DBs, so it's not because a port is being blocked by a firewall.

Furthermore, with hdbsql from console I have no problem to login to both SYSTEMDB and a tenant DB.

I was very surprised, that I was able to connect to the tenant, if I select single container! However, the installation is multiple container and we already have a few tenants created!

Please kindly advise where is the problem and what could I do in order to get this working.

Many thanks in advance!

How did you check that you actually connected to the tenant DB? Can you share which connection parameters you used for both connections?

And what error message to you get, when you try to connect to the tenant DB via HANA Studio?

Hi Symon,

From HANA Studio, if you are trying to add the Tenant DB you will have to check with the next sql the port of the tenant indexserver

SELECT DATABASE_NAME, SERVICE_NAME, PORT, SQL_PORT, (PORT + 2) HTTP_PORT FROM SYS_DATABASES.M_SERVICES WHERE DATABASE_NAME='' and ((SERVICE_NAME='indexserver' and COORDINATOR_TYPE= 'MASTER') or (SERVICE_NAME='xsengine'))

You have to fill in the DATABASE_NAME='xxx

'

To check the current situation of the database names created / tenant , you can run this sql :

select * From M_DATABASES

After running the first statement, you will find out the SQL_PORT of indexserver 3<instance.no>15 - mostly used :)

Then you can add your tenant as from hana studio with :3< instance.no>15 , fill the instance number, Multiple Container -> Tenant DB - Your Database Name

I hope that my answer will help you to solve the problem.

Regards,

Florin
