using like with a parameter field

Post Author: hokiegirl

Hi, I am new to crystal reports and am struggling with this problem.

I am trying to use a parameter field for record selection criteria and need to use it as a like with wildcards. For example I have text that I want to search for the word 'acute' anywhere in the text. Below is the formula I have setup and it does not work (no results back):

({activity.proc_dtime} in {?P1 Date/Time} to {?P2 Date/Time}) and{activity_result.rslt_line_1} like ("{?Keyword 1}") and{activity_info.dept} = {?Dept or Div}

If I change it to test with a specific word like below it works (results returned with 'acute' somewhere in the field):

({activity.proc_dtime} in {?P1 Date/Time} to {?P2 Date/Time}) and{activity_result.rslt_line_1} like 'acute' and{activity_info.dept} = {?Dept or Div}

Can someone tell me why my parameter won't yield any results like it is coded?

Thanks
