CA Forum: Formula
I am writing a report that will compare monthly sales. Example Jan 06 to Jan07 . I have fields called This year sales for period 1, This year sales for period 2 etc. I also have fields called last year sales for period 1, Last year sales for period 2, etc. I want all Twelve months on the same report. I assume I must write a formula that when I want to compare the sales for the individual months for the whole year of 07 then it will print the this year sales for period 1-12 and last year sales for period 1-12 but like the example below:
Jan 06 feb06 march 06 etc
2,000 3,000 4,000
Jan07 Feb 07 March 07
4,000 2,000 3,000
I am doing this in excel I have one row for the 1st year jan 06-dec 06. Then on the second row jan 0-dec 07. If necessary I guess I could do :
Jan 06 jan07 then I will have a formula that will figure out the percentage difference in sales. Hope this is clear. Thanks for any Help In Advance.

group on Year({table.salesdate)
In the group footer you will have a series of Running Totals, each using the Formula option and resetting on change of Group, the formula for the first will be: Month({table.salesdate}) = 1, you can figure out the rest from there

There is no "the formula"
You group by year - so each years numbers will be on a new group footer line.
You Build a Running Total for each month and put them side by side on the Group Footer. One only counts January saled, one counts Febrruary, etc. This is done by using the Formula option in the Running Total exactly as I specified in myearlier post.
