Linking Main Report results with Subreport

Post Author: moriconim

CA Forum: Formula

Hello,

Heres my problem...

I have created a report based on an order number. In this report we are given the serial numbers of the items on the order. When I create a subreport I would like it to group by the serial numbers from the result of the main report. When I try this it only displays 1 serial number. and this is the formula that is displayed {STH_CASE_SCANS.SERIALNUMBER} = {?Pm-STH_CASE_SCANS.SERIALNUMBER}. Anyone help me out.

If I understand what you're after, when you link the subreport based on the serialnumber, you will only see one subreport per serialnumber.

If in the subreport you want all the serial numbers, don't link the subreport based on serialnumber, use the orderid.

this is the effect i'm looking for:

    Main Report

Return # (Perameter Entered by user)

Product Code Description Serial # Weight

    0001 Beef 03434 34.56

    0001 Beef 03433 22.45

    Subreport

    Serial # 03434 Weight 34.56

    Received 22/11/2007

    Shipped 24/11/2007

    Returned 27/11/2007

    Serial #03433 Weight 22.45

    Received 21/11/2007

    Shipped 24/11/2007

    Returned 27/11/2007

So the main report gives you the info about the Return and the sub report gives you the info for each Serial number in the return.

I'm very new to CR so please bare with me:)

No worries, we were all new at one point 😊

I think what you want is for the Subreport to be displayed after each Return, and have the Serial # details of that Return. From the main report, right click on the subreport and choose Change Subreport Links, then link the Main & Subreports together on Return#.

In the subreport, you should then have the whole group of Serial #'s for that return.

    Does that make sense?
