Data comparisons

I am a realitively new user to CR and am trying to find a way to compare data from two different dates.

Detail: I am using mySQL as my data source. I am trying to get a comparison of sales from for example today and seven days previous on the same line of a report. I have wanted to avoid creating a field in the database that duplicates the data. Is there a way to do this?
