CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I have done a lot of searching for this problem, and though I have found similar issues, none "fit" mine exactly.
First: Crystal Reports 2008 connecting to a DB2 database. This report is being deployed to a website using the Viewer control in VS.net. The webserver has the same DSN(ODBC) connection that my development computer has.
Previously I had all static parameter in my report, and it was working correctly, my code was allowing the report to get access to the DB2 databases and pull the information it needed without any input from the end user. Once I added a dynamic parameter(it is using the same tables that are already in the report currently) it started prompting for access information. I have tried several ways in my code to combat this, but nothing is working. Is there some other procedure that needs to be done to fix this?
I do notice that the datasource that is listed for the dynamic parameter uses the table name as the root instead of the actual dsn connection. Is this a bug?
Dynamic parameters created within the Crystal Reports Designer will create Business View Objects. This is done so that the prompts can be reused in other reports without having to be redefined. However, the Data Connection object created for the dynamic prompt defaults to having no database login credentials and the "Runtime Prompt Mode" set to "Always Prompt". So you will have to run the Business View Manager and edit the Data Connection object for this prompt to have valid login credentials and set the "Runtime Prompt Mode" to "Never Prompt" and your problem will go away.

Rick,
IF the report is being deployed to a BOE XI or CR Server system, then yes, it will be accessible from the BusinessView manager (presuming that the LOV/BV is created in the BOE system database).
IF the report is unmanaged (not hosted in a BOE environment), it should use the same set of credentials to refresh the dynamic parameter...
