Need help with a Gauge Chart

Post Author: rjoubert

CA Forum: Charts and Graphs

I'm using a report created in CR XI Developer with a windows based VB.NET 2005 application. The requirement for this subreport seemed simple enough. I need a gauge chart with numbers. The value represented on this gauge is a certain number of records with particular value. The catch is that the max on the gauge should be the total count of records. So, if I have 10 records, and 7 of those have the desired value, I want my gauge to show a max of 10, with the needle sitting on the 7. Is there a creative way to do this? I don't want to hard code the upper range of the chart, as that value may not always be 10.

I was able to come up with a solution for this issue. I created a query in the application's database (MS Access) that gave me the two counts that I needed to chart. I based my report on that query, charted both values on the gauge and made the color of the total count needle transparent.
