Welcome to the forum srinivasaraoy.

Much literature has been published on the concepts of data warehousing as well as several web sites dedicated to the practice (my favorite is the TDWI, http://www.tdwi.org). There are several camps in regards to methodology in constructing a data warehouse, but again, my favorite author is Ralph Kimball. As far as Business Objects goes, it is merely a reporting tool that can access either a "live" database or a data warehouse, or both -- it is that flexible. Business Objects occupies the "business intelligence" space along with several other leading BI vendors. People choose one vendor over another based on many factors. My own personal motto is "if you find the perfect BI tool, stay away from it otherwise it won't be your favorite for too long", which is to mean that all BI tools have their pluses and minuses, and you just need to check around and accept the best a tool has to offer versus the drawbacks, and then choose accordingly. Good luck in your studies and embarkation upon an IT career!
