Auto Save option in WEBI

Post Author: izhar

CA Forum: WebIntelligence Reporting

HI ALL,

I wanted to know if there is an "Auto Save" option available in Web I. Many a times, I will have left my session running and after sometime, the session will be logged of because of idle session timeout set for Web I. Ofcourse, one solution would be to increase the idle session timeout range. But, I do not want to increase the idle session timeout. Mainly, i want to know if there is an auto-save option available. I checked in the forum and i did not find any links. Kindly help me.

Thanks,

Izhar

Hi, Did you find solution to this problem? Currently we are using BOXI R2 SP2, java panel for webi. The max timeout setting is 20 mins. but some of the users want this setting to be increased or have an Auto Save option. 1st option is ruled out as we have 100+ users.

Kindly someone let me know if there is any alternative solution.

    Thanks!

    Rohini,

I would say that this is a "customer education issue". When we put our users through WebI training we emphasize the "save as you go" concept in order to minimize frustration and re-work. It is really a simple thing to do (after you initially run a report, save it giving it a name, which is the most "time consuming" part of the process). Once a report is in front of you with a report name, etc, etc, then every so often click on save. Computers are not infallible, and there are at least a half-dozen moving parts required to keep your report "alive" (the web server, the database server, the storage area, the PC, the software running every where) and all it takes is a single hiccup amongst any of the players, and the user is toast, but save as you go makes for a much more pleasant experience. Good luck!
