CA Forum: Crystal Reports

Hi, all

1. Source = MySQL (big5 charset)

2. Destination = MSSQL 2005 (N'DataType) Default Collation = SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS

3. Businessobjects XI R2 SP2

Problem 1: After pulling data from mysql to mssql2005, i can see the data in unicode format, but when i'm trying to create crystal report from the db, i only able to see the unicode but not chinese, is there a way that i can view the data correctly in crystal report?

Problem 2: After i created the crystal report and saved into Enterprise, even thought in crystal report i cant see the exact chinese character, I trying to use different encoding to view it, but also failed.

Please advise me, how should i set the application whether i should do it in ms sql 2005, or maybe install language pack for crystal report xi r2 sp2, or should i change some settings in BO Enterprise XI R2 SP2?

All feedback and suggestion is welcomed, and i willing to do all kind of testing.

Thanks,

Yii Ing

When you tried from Crystal Reports was it from a copy that was installed on the the same Enterprise Server machine. This is usually a very good troubleshooting tip whenever you run across a problem where it works in Crystal Reports but does not work when published to BusinessObjects Enterprise.

I aslo have the same problem with Crystal Report Viewer with Chinese Character

When I try to preview the Report with Chinese data its show garbage data.

My database is MSSQL 2005, i'm using 3rd party software for the chinese communicator to translate the chinese characters.

In any application on my workstation the unicode can translated using the communicator, but in crystal report is does not translated.

Is there any way that it can view correctly in crystal report with the communicator?

My communicator is NJStart software.

any suggestions? solutions ? work around?

Thanks,

Raffy
