CA Forum: Crystal Reports

I do apologize if I seem inexperienced with this program. I am with a new company who uses version 8.5, but the program is new to me, and when they print a label from this program the logo is quite poor in quality. Is there a way to import an image into this program and if so what format should it be in. Or any other comments about this subject. I do realize this version is old and I was unable to find any documentation on it, only 9.0. Thanks

Crystal Reports works best with, and generally only permits BMP, JPG, TIFF, PNG or WMF image formats. I'm more familiar with newer versions of Crystal, but 8.5 should behave the same.

I believe you have two options for inserting an image: Insert -> Image/Picture or Insert-> OLE Object. One may perform better than the other, you'll just have to experiment.

Other considerations are the size, compression (if a JPG) ratio, color depth, etc. Again, you're gonna have to experiment...more.

One note though is to not attempt to manipulate the image size too much from within Crystal. Get the image to the size, etc., from outside of CR and then bring it too the report designer.

Can't offer much more info given what you've posted. Final suggestion, though, would be to upgrade, soon, as 8.5 is not a supported product anymore.
