Hi,

I am very new to BOXI R2 - Data Integrator and require information on the below mentioned points to enable my environment setup.

1 Installing BODI with web server on another machine - Is it possible to have the web server installed on another machine. If yes/no then why so?

2 Running jobs with inputs taken from job scheduler portal - Is it possible?

3 Design considerations for metadata integrator to function properly - Trying to find out the design considerations for the metadat integrator.

Please share your experienced knowledge about the above points asap.

Here are some answers :

1) Yes, you can have the Data Integrator webserver installed on a different machine then the machine you used to install the Data Integrator job server. On this extra machine, you need to run the installer, select the Management Console as install component and you're fine.

2) Yes when you schedule jobs, you can pass input parameters via global variables. This can be done via the Data Integrator Management Console using the graphical user interface (I assume this is what you refer to with scheduler portal) or via any other (third-party) scheduler by passing the global variables via the command line.

3) The meta data integrator needs to be installed on a Windows machine that has the BOE or Crystal Reports client installed (this is because Data Integrator uses some API that come with these clients).
