Memory utilisation

Hi team,

I have a question regarding OOM.

We had an issue where the HANA database went OOM. Now i wanted to give RCA.

In order to perform the same i started with the below sql.

HANA_Memory_TopConsumers_History_Rev90+_ESS

But it is not giving much information as to what might be the cause.

How do i start my investigation?

    Hello,

    .

When I was investigating OOM issue before I found below notes and links.

    These could help you too.

Check the swap value of the system also. (Given 2047 MB according to a note for swap)

Lars as you know, OOM gives the sql which failed during that point of time.

But its not the cause right which caused the issue right?

Its only a symptom due to lack of memory availbility.

    • Last time I checked the OOM also provides an overview of the total memory usage.

In there you can find the elements that use most memory and that's what you would be looking for when looking for the cause, right?
