Migration data upload

Dear all,

Our project go-live date on 1st july 2008, normally we will migrate open value data to SAP(AR,AP,GL,AA) as at 30th june.

Now client request to us to upload the data from Jan2007 to June 2008 (every month end balance).

In this scanerioa, i need to know below query :

1) Will happen any impact if i upload the data for previous period.

2) If upload the data its useful to client side for reporting purposes.

3)can i advise to my client, First i will do June'08 ending balance after go-live will upload rest of period data. It is possible or not after go-live upload.

If you are all have any previous experience the above scenrio please share to me.

Hi Vivek,

Generally all Balance sheet values are uploaded with the values on year end date or last day before uploading data. i.e.in your case as the Golive date is 1st July 2008, need to consider the values on 30th June 2008. By this Closing B/S in your legacy system should match SAP opening B/S.

It is better to upload AR and AP open items by line item wise, so that subsequent payment process in SAP is simple. For this it is required to use BDC and ipload balances after Master data is cretaed in SAP.

Similary you have to upload Asset balances of all existing assets.

Hence there will be no question of uploading data by month wise.

Hi Karun,

I agree with your point. Here my client want upload last year data from jan2007 to until 30 th june 2008 all ending balance AR ,AP,AA and FA from month wise.
