Hi dear colleagues.

I am very disturbed about a subject on which I thought I was competent : user status management !

What I want to do : When I take UD from my inspection lot (QM during production insp type 03), I want my Production order takes a user status automatically.

For that, on the status profile from my order type is assigned to order of course, but to inspection lot too. In addition I have a status which is set when business transaction "Make usage decision" is run.

It doesn't work ! Any idea please ?

Thanks in advance.

Olivier.

As I have visits and no answer for the moment, I had this screen (Status profile of my PP order type), where my status "DU" should be set when "make usage decision" is done :

Why is the GR for prodn. order part of this? It looks like to me like you are saying the DU status is allowing GR's to be done and the GR has no impact on the DU status. So why bother with it here at all? I'd just delete this line.

On the second line for making usage decision why isn't no influence set. You don't want to influence the make usage decision transaction.

For this to work, I'd say you'd only need the second line with "no influence" set and "Set" selected.

I would think however that as you have it, it should probably work.

I'd be curious to know what SAP says. My guess is that the logic isn't in the system to utilize the Make usage decision business transaction part of a production order user status. Hope to hear from you on what SAP says.

Hi Craig.

First, I always found curious on 03 inspection that SAP allows GR on Production order, even if UD is not taken. However, if it is SAP rule, why not (I disagree because when I were a Quality inspector in a previous life … neither finished good went into stock before Quality decides OK or Not OK).

So when I say that, I admit SAP standard, and I am searching a way to build my logic : one status to forbid GR on Prod order (status “CQ” for me … Quality inspection in progress), and another to allow it (status “DU” for me … UD taken).

First status :

Second status :

But all of that works if I manage statuses manually on directly on Prod order.

Where I need help, is how to put status “DU” on my prod order, when I take UD from my inspection lot (which is linked to my prod order as a 03 inspection process). I thought the 2 screen you have as above were sufficient to do that. For the moment I am wrong, except if I have an answer from SAP. I keep you informed.

I think you should consider the update of the prod. order user status with a custom Follow up Action assigned to the selected set of your usage decision.

Yes thank you, but in my view I found logical that status management between 2 objects is sufficient, especially given that expected business transaction exist inside both objects. Before creating a follow up action, I probably ask the question to SAP.

Hello Olivier,

Could you please check sequence maintenance in the user status profile. Exp. Below: ( Lowest..and Highest...)

Hi Kumar.

No, in my case, my user status "DU" is not a sequential status (out of sequence).

Regards.

Olivier.
