Bhatt,

Make sure to read over the guides before doing the Suse Install, there are some SAP specific items that you need to attend to that are part of the OS Install that can make things easy or really hard.

As stated before - if you are use Solution Manager, you can use 32-bit but it will be very, very tight on memory consumption, you need at an absolute minimum, 4Gig of RAM, and this will also be tight if you do a consolidated installation.

Also get your disk-layout figured before you start the install, how your disks will be arranged for Db, SAP and OS binaries so you get the best I/O performance and stability for your money (have a strategy for backup also - if you use NFS with Samba to a staging point, network will get hit pretty hard). Oracle will install with Dynamic Storage Allocation enabled (suggest that you leave this alone for the install and change it after if you really need to) for tablespaces and will grow sapdatas - make sure that your sapdatas can grow to what the Oracle System is expecting them to grow to!!

So hope that helps - if it has answered your question, please set this thread to answered.

Did you check the link I gave you? A step-by-step installation guide is available. there.

Most important points:

- do NOT install Oracle before you start the installation with SAPINST, it will prompt you to do so

- do NOT execute "runInstaller" but "RUNINSTALLER" in the SAP subdirectory when installing the database

- Oracle 10.2.0.1 is installed, which is not supported, update to 10.2.0.2 and install all 40+ interim patches from note 871096

All those steps are covered in the installation documentation. Read it and tell us if there are any things that you don´t understand.

The installation on Linux is like any other installation.

- Check the installation guides at http://service.sap.com/instguides

- Read note 171356 - SAP software on Linux: Essential information

- Be aware that on 64bit Linux the IBM Java JDK is used, NOT the Sun JDK (see note 861215 - Recommended Settings for the Linux on AMD64/EM64T JVM)

- 32bit installations are no more supported
