Hi
We have a customer which for different reasons want to access some documents on a windows share from NW 7.0.
I had hoped that we somehow from ifs could access a windows share like
server\share. Similar to the possibility to access the ifs from windows.
I have seen the possibility to use QNTC but for this you need to add your i5 to the windows domain which might cause some other issues.
Do you know of any way of accessing a windows share from iseries?
Thanks

Configure Netserver in your i series using i series navigator.
i series machine can be accessed in windows machine.

Hi Flemming,
I really do not see, that you need to add the iSeries into any domain ...
You just need i5 users with same passwords in the Domain of the PC and on the i5 - then it should work fine )))
There are not really other solutions to my knowledge ...

Thanks Volker.
Actually I have asked the Windows administrator of the customer to create the SIDXX user in the domain with the same pw already but it doesn't work from al11.
Do you know of a "better" way to test the connection - for instance from os-level where you might get a better error message?
I guess we use the correct user?
Is the pw from the i5 user supposed to be in uppercase in windows (which we have done)?
Best regards
Flemming
Hi Flemming,
my experience is "more lowercase" ... but this depends a bit on the setting.
How to test: logon with sidnn on OS level and try to navigate to /QNTC and so on ...
I would test the other way around as well:
logon with sidnn on windows and try to mount
iseries\rootbin - this NEEDS to run without a password prompting ...
