When I convert a purchase req to a purchase order and a PO for the same vendor already exists for today's date, I want the system to inform me of this fact with a message.
I seem to recall in the versions before Enjoy Purchasing that one could configure R/3 MM-PUR to issue such a message and allow me to append new items to an existing PO, but I cannot find such a message in any of the MM-PUR message classes. Have looked for this in Define Attributes of System Messages and also in Default Values for Buyers.
The requirement is this: A buyer/planner is working his requisitions from MD07/MD04, converting the buy signals (purchase reqs) into POs as he goes along processing MRP exceptions. If he has already created a PO today for Vendor X (with or without processing the vendor message such as fax or email), he wants the system to allow/prompt him to add new items to that existing PO with Vendor X.
Have any of you solved such a requirement like this? I do not want to change the process by having the buyer do some requisition conversions out of ME21n or ME58 and others from MD07.
Thanks in advance,
Tom
If only I could get my hands on a 3.1g system....
I swear I am not dreaming this up. It used to be possible.

Why and how your system will prompt message which is not possible in standard.
Several PO's may be created for same vendor for material and service procurement but how you will be benefited by having a message for it!
In your case MRP PR created for a material and upon PR* release , the PO is created - How is your system create again another PO for material from same PR* ?

Hi,
There is no such notification option in standard as of my knowledge. If you can not issue multiple PO's on the same date, you may check the feasibility of having your own validation in PO with BAdI: ME_PROCESS_PO_CUST
