[SM59] Destination - no Gateway neccessary?

Former Member

Hey,

if I would like to to an IDOC-XI-File scenario, I found some guides like this:

https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d19fe210-0d01-0010-4094-a6f...

In sender system I have to create a destination to target system.

Why I don't have to insert a gateway? When to use it?

thanks

chris

hi,

when u r using type 3 RFC destination in R/3 system .

then it easily identify the target system by its IP-address or by its host name

and system no.

so no sense to giving gateway information.

but if u r using T type RFC destination then it is useful to use gateway information over

their.

thanks

Hi Christian,

Gateway is used to communicate with in the network. If the target system you want to communicate is with in your network you can go for Gateway....else No.

Do u wanted to send the R3 data to XI. (Idoc to File)

U can do in the three different ways.

1) Using Client proxy

2) Using RFc adapter

3) Using IDOC.

As per ur statement I suggest to go with either IDOC Adapter.

Reward points if this helps

Pragathi.

Hi,

Hi

Preconfiguration steps for transfer of data to IDOCS

1.Create a RFC Destination in SM59 of XI Server of type.

2.In transaction IDX1 ,create a port for the client of XI server.

3. The port has to be displayed in the idx2 transaction and we should be able to view the idocu2019s which we imported through integration repository.

Steps in Configuration

1. Goto service without party, right click->Assign a business system.

2. Choose the business system to be added.

3. Create a File Sender Service with communication channel for the same.

4. Create an idoc receiver channel under the business system.

7. The Idoc type( which data is to be written) is mentioned as inbound parameter.

8. Mention the logical Name in the Service->Adapter Specific Parameters of both the File Sender Service as well as the business system.

9. Make the Sender Agreement for theFile Sender with communication channel.

10.Create the Receiver Determination and Interface Determination for the business system.

11.Create the Receiver Agreement for the Business system.

Step for Configuration fo IDOC in R/3

SM59-rfc destination

IDX1-port

IDX2-load metadata

we05-IDoc status records

BD54-Create Partner Number

We20-Create Partner Profile

WE19-Testing IDoc Processing

Hi Chris,

1.When to use it?

A. When you are communiting with your target system you requrie gateway. In SM59 you have that option gateway options.

Gateway Host is nothing but your target system application server name.

Gateway server is SAPGW is constant and follwed with your system number

Gothrough this detail document.

Hi,

Check this for a IDOC to File scenario.

We don't require sender agreement and sender communication channel when sending an IDOC.

@vijaya

Already know this on, but it doesn't describe how to configure ports and

partner profile.

@Khimavath

Thanks, but if I have to insert a gateway if I want to communicate with target

system why the demo scenario doesn't have a gateway insert?

Do I have to use this, if the target system is outside of my enterprise network?

@satya

Thanks, but also this I already know. This briefly introduction is helpful, but

useless for detail. My question isn't answered with this.

And you describe the way XI to IDOC. Needing the other direction.
