What is major diffrence between java development and portal development ?

Hi,

Can any one tell what is major diffrence between java development project through through NWDS and portal development project through NWDS . I am working in java development and i am trying to learn portal development . So can any one send me good links of that if possibl.

    Hi,

    Gurprit, In java Development, you have to build every thing from scratch. in Portal development using SAP EP, SAP has provided set of platforms and metadata based model which can be used to create similar application in a easier way.

    You can use webdynpro, pdk or java based development.
