ABOUT SERVERS

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me whatever we do in entire life cycle of a project.

Also we use 5 servers like testing, sandbox, quality, production and development. Can anyone explain me what is the purpose and difference between these.

Thanks in advance

    Hello Priya,

Please read this document, it may help you

Dev, QAS & Prod would have the same Configuration data, as the system configuration would be done in Dev then tested in QAS and then moved to Production. But the major difference between the three is that we would be uploading at the time of implementation 100% Master Data in the Production for regular transactions, but where as we would be uploading only a sample of it in the QAS for testing.

Further subsequently, we would be refreshing the QAS at regular intervals (say once in 3 or 6 months) with Prod so that both would have the same data i.e Master and Transactional Data, but Dev would never be refreshed. It would have a sample data. So when ever the user faces regular issue, we would be replicating the issue in QAS as it would have the same data as in Prod, then try to fix the same in DEV and move it to QAS for retesting. Once the user accepts the result after testing in QAS, we would move it to Production. We would be doing R & D in Dev(Testing Client) for resolving a issue raised by the user, but we do not need the 100% master & transaction data in dev for resolving the issue. We only need to check the configure and the configure would be the same in all the three i.e DEV, QAS & Prod. We would be using the sample Master Data that would be similar to the one in Prod and execute the transaction and analyze the error, so that the same can be rectified in Golden Client and moved to QAS & Prod.

All your master data's will be loaded to SAP through the upload tools available such as LSMW, BDC etc.. Initially the master data's will be created in Golden client and then in quality client and then in Production client. Before GO live all the transactional / Business data's will be uploaded in SAP as initial upload in the production server during migration. In order to get the same data's in your quality client usually a client copy of production server to quality server will be executed at regular intervals. Remember no transactional / business data will uploaded in the golden configuration client.

hope it will help you and pl assign points

    thanks

    venkat
