SAML: AS ABAP as SP and ADFS as IdP

We are trying to configure SAML: AS ABAP as SP and ADFS as IdP so we can make our SAP portal externally available. Our network team is not recommending ADFS as IdP.

What are the options we have if we do not use ADFS as IdP. We definitely would like to use SSO through ADFS.

If we dont have other options (we do have NetScaler which we could like to use), how can we configure ADFS with Netscaler as IdP.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

"Turns out the out-of-the-box configuration works only in a internal network setup. If you configure a proxy in front of ADFS (such as WAP or even a hardware one such as NetScaler), you’ll have to adjust the Authentication Context to explicitly call out PassworProtectedTransport. Also change the Comparison Method to Exact and binding type to HTTP POST."
