I know you can delete OM objects through PU00 in test client and Sandbox. Does it work the same way in PRD also or is there a different procedure in PRD.
Details would be appreciated

of course, first maek sure that no EE's are linked to the position you want to delete.
Then start transaction PP01, select proper object type and object ID.
Via menu'- path object --> delete, objects can be deleted.

It would work the same way in PRD client also, if the required authorizations are there with the user. But it's always advisable to delete in the development client and then transport the changes to quality and then to the PRD client.
