System Status Question

Hello everyone,

I need to create a report on various metrics concerning Missing/Awaiting Parts status for Work Orders in PM. To do this, I need to ascertain when the system sets the going into and coming out of Missing Parts status. I0004/MSPT (Missing Parts) is set during the Availability Check, but when is I0340/MACM (Material Confirmed) set (I'm assuming this is the correct status to use)?

I can't find any information regarding this, and when looking through IW39 at various Work Orders, and comparing to tables JCDS/JEST, I can't see a pattern. I had assumed that it would be set on Goods Issue related to the Order Number, but I see several Work Orders where IWBK is showing available, and MIGO_GI is showing a Goods Issue performed, yet the System Status still shows MSPT.

I've actually looked at configuring a User Status Profile with E0007/PAIS (Parts Issued) to be set during Goods Issue, but I'd prefer to use an existing system Status if possible.

Any input on this would be greatly appreciated.

Jim,

FYI: The problem with MSPT is that it is a static status and you need to go into the PM/CS order reagularly and press save (which performs an availabilty check) to ensure this status is up-to-date.

At several clients we have created a batch program that does this on a periodic basis (say each night).

Hi Peter,

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding.

Are you saying that I need to run the Availability Check to initiate the status change (from MSPT to MACM), and that it isn't done automatically on goods receipt, or some other business process associated with the Work Order? I hadn't expected that.

And I just answered my own question. I found an open Work Order in the sandbox with status MSPT, but IWBK showing stock available. When I ran the Availability check in IW32, the status changed to MACM.

Yeah - unfortunately its a real pain Jim.. Hence the batch program.

There used to be a manual work-around in IW38 where you selected all records, then use menu path: Order->Revision->Refresh Dates (assuming you dont use revisions!!). But I'm not sure this still works anymore..

I did read somewhere that SAP might be addressing this long-standing issue. However, I cant find it again..

Hello Jim - we needed something similar, so we created a query that joins JCDS with CAUFV and it counts the time between statuses; use transaction SQ00/SQ01 to create the query. The join is based on object number. Good luck

Hey Tammy, thanks for the quick response. I just need confirmation that the two statuses I'm looking at (MSPT/MACM) are the correct ones to use tracking this. I'd also like someone to tell me exactly when the MACM status is normally set if possible. As I said, MSPT makes sense when looking at the status tables and IW39, MACM not so much. I just want to make sure I'm not making erroneous assumptions.
