Hi,

Please clarify, what's the point of adding the item in the BOM if it wouldn't be use in production anyway? But if I'm guessing that you just need to see the item in the proc orders for display purposes, how about adding the BOM item as Text item, maintain the Item code there, and make the Text item as Production Relevant. In this way, if master recipe/Bom is read at the Proc Ord, BOM will reflect the text item.

Thanks.

Hello,

As per my understanding your requirement is -

you want to enter the Bom component but the PR should not be generated for the same and the component should not be planned.

You can choose the item category as Text item.

With this you will able to put your item in BOM and planning also wiil not happen.

Please revert if clarification required.

Reward if useful.

BOM component quantity can not be zero technically , otherwise there is no point mentioning the component in BOM .

Gurus , what do you think ?

I fully agree with you, but he wanted it to be present with zero qty in prod order, hence i told hinm to enter comp qty as .001 for a base qty of 1000, which will be almost zero...

hope you got the point

dear gurus,

this implementation concerns a pharmaceutical company, which heavily relies on the bom in producing their materials. so a 0 and a 0.0001 is still different. using a text item doesn't help either because they want to see the item code of the material.

Where do you intend to see the Item Code? As it has been mentioned above, you can not enter ZERO as an Item Quantity for a BOM Component.

I want to see the item code with zero qty in the BOM, in the production order. It is a critical requirement because there are items with qty of 0 from their legacy system which need to be uploaded via LSMW.

Hi Raf,

Enter the raw material and qty as 0.001 and base qty 1000...then the resultant qty of raw material for 1 unit of base qty will be zero and system consider it as ZERO. The advantage is you will have the item in Production order and qty is negligible.

By doing above system gives a message that resultant qty is ZERO. It is a warning message, hence can be ignored.

Hi Raf,

Are able to save the bom as per procedure I have given to you? If yes then create the production order if you want any massage there then you will get by this way.

Hi,

If u do want system to create PR/Planned Order for BOM component, Maintain MRP type as ND for that Component.

No need to assign 0 as BOM qty

Dear,

You cannot enter ZERO qty in Qty field, instead you enter .001 qty for 1000 base Qty which is almost zero.

but my concern is if it will generate a PR or planned order. i hope not

Hi,

You can use text item and it will be copied to your PrdOrd from BOM.

No it will not create PR/Plorder as requirement qty is very less(less than zero)
