Costing of PRT

dear friends

i have one graphite material on which profile cutting operations are done as we are from mould plant.

now i am using this grphite material as a profile cutting tool in EDM (electronic discharge machine) machine.

my requirement is i want to add manufacturing cost of graphite material in the costing of main Mould material.

please advise me how to map this in SAP.

Could you explain it in detail. I think costing of PRT can not be done like costing of work center (Activity based costing) . If Graphite is tool used in manufacturing why do you want to do costing of Graphite ?

we are the tier mould manufacture. for profile cutting of mould we are using graphite material in EDM machine. but first we cut the profile on graphite (inhouse only) and same profile will cut on the mould with the help of grphite material.

now we done costing for graphite material.

this graphite material at the time of profile cutting of mould will be use as cutting tool in EDM Machine.

we want cost of graphite tool manufactured (inhouse) to be add in cost of goods mfg og mould.

Hi,

It is still confusing for me..

It seems you use two types of Graphite for Mould Cutting.

One initially as a Profile material and secondly in the Cutting Machine as a tools..

Am I wright?

dear sive sorry for not replying after so many days,

Process is like :

first we mfg graghite cutting tool in our plant. & then this graphite material is used as a tool for profile cutting on a mould.

how to map in SAP.

Graphite could be a floor-stock/bulk-material type of item on the bom and preferably setup for backflushing.

Also, depends on if you are expensing graphite when you receive it from teh suppliers? If yes then it can be reflected in the product cost via overhead. you can fine tune your overhead setup to apply graphite cost as overhead to specific material (origin).

Hi,

Please clarify:

Are you Manufacturing the Graphite tool for the Use of One finished prodcut only?

or the Tool will be used for number of other Orders also?

If your is for only one Order then you can have this as a separate BOM Component in your FERT.

Maintain BOM and Routing for this, Create a production Order and Settle this to the Headr Level Material.

If the Secon Condition is True then, as a separate activity cost you can add.
