Hi MDM Expetrs,
what is the need of workflows in mdm data manager and how do we create workflows in data manager? can any one give one best example for workflows?

Hi Nani

MDM offers multiple layers of data management capabilities for
maintaining data integrity, enforcing business logic, and automating business processes like validations and workflow. At the outer layer, MDM workflows consist of a
sequence of steps that allow you to orchestrate a series of
operations that include user tasks, validations, and approvals,
automating business processes at the data management level.
MDM workflow is created in data manager. select the w/f table and add a new w/f.It is linked to MS visio and MDM has specific steps stencil.
Example: We can trigger a w/f with steps like validation/assignment each time a record is getting added/changed/imported which means all data coming into MDM or changed will follow the data governance rules set up.
hope this helps. Award point if helpful

Hi Nani,
In addition to above replies, Workfolw is very useful in other ways too, like you can run Validations and Assignments on record creation, record update using workflow. you dnt need to manually run the validations and Assignments. so in this way you are cleansing records. You can deduplicate the records too by running strategies using Workflow Match Stencil. you can add Approve steps to check the quality of your records, this approver can accept and reject records So in this way you can maintain good quality of data.
Most importantly, In workflows you can make use of Notify step using which you can send mails to corresponding approver, you can notify other users as well by telling that job assigned to corresponding user has been done yet or not.
you can make use of split jobs to users.

Hi Nani,
what is the need of workflows
Workflow are required to automate certain processes like Sending new records to Authorizer and matching merging strategy

Benefits of MDM Workflow
The Workflow enables the orchestration of parallel and sequential activities at the data management level, including user tasks, validations and approvals
User-friendly design-time environment allows quick and easy creation and manipulation, even by end users.
Groups of records can be moved through the workflow at runtime as logical packages, providing quick access to the relevant data.
Flexible agent assignment based on users or roles.
Embedded validations for data quality checks at any time in the process
how do we create workflows
Step by step
Hope this helps,

Hi nani,
I studied the documents which u have posted. Here I have one douby after creation of workflow process what I need to do? and can u explain me each step in work flow?
The Steps which will be used in the Workflows can be studied from the link:
Go to-> Record Mode->MDM Workflows->Workflow steps
Here stencils are given along with their properties.
Kindly go through them.
Also After creating a Workflow you can go to the Record Mode and choose the Main table as your current table.
Right Click on the Records you want to run in the Workflow and then choose the Workflow Name. ( If the Workflow is manual).
And if the Workflow is Automatic ( Immidiate), then depending upon the action such as Record Import, Update etc. your workflow will get triggered automatically.
After that depending upon the roles and users, you will have to login and go according to the steps you have defined in the Workflow.
Hope it helps.
Thanks and Regards

Hi Chandu,
Work flow is verry useful for clean, clear and accurete Master Data
WorkFlows in Data Manager provides you the control over the records coming in or going out od data MAnager.WorkFlow is a part of data Manager and Designed on Microsoft Visio so for workflows you should install visio.
To create a workflow open the data manager and go to the workflow table and add an entry and click on Workflow Microsoftvisio in Record Detail Tab.It will open Microsoft visio and there you will find icons to create a Workflow. The work flow
Start->Process->Approve->process-Approve->Stop.
Take this example
here at the start step which is assigned to the some abc in Record Detail Tab in Owner.then Approve step is assigned to EFG and process to HIJ and the next steps to some other users.
Then goto any table and select records and add to workflow job then open data manager with user name given to Start step and start the workflow similarly the users assigned to process and approve steps will perform their responsible activities here the different Users are keeping watch on the Data comini In or Going Out of MDM so Work flow is verry useful for clean, clear and accurete Master Data

Reward if Helpful.
