Hi Guys,
I wanted to understand what is the role of a Active plan version. I am reading through the Practical workflow for Sap book.
In the Customizing the workflow chapter it they have given instructions on how to maintain a Active plan version but it is not mentioned what they are meant for and why do we need to customize this in the system. Can any body explain in more details what is the actual use of maintaining this in the system in a layman's language?
Cheers

Hello,
As far as I know,
Plan versions are scenarios in which you can create organizational plans.
In the plan version which you have flagged as the active plan version, you create your current valid organizational plan. This is also the integration plan version which will be used if integration with Personnel Administration is active.
You use additional plan versions to create additional organizational plans as planning scenarios.
As a rule, a plan version contains one organizational structure, that is, one root organizational unit. It is, however, possible to create more than one root organizational unit, that is more than one organizational structure in a plan version.
So the plan version you define in the active plan version will help you use the relevant organizational structure in the workflow agent assignment.
Hope this will help.
Regards,
Sam

Plan Version
Contains a one or two alphanumeric key which differentiates between scenarions in you organizational plan.
Organizational Management allows you to manage scenarios in parallel in various plan versions.
