"Keep contacts synchronized" C4C Outlook Integration

Hi community,

what does the checkbox "Keep contacts synchronized" in the C4C Outlook Add-In settings do? See screenshot, sorry that the screenshots are in German...

I tested it with ticked and without ticked checkbox but there was no difference. The contacts in the Cloud-for-Customer-Contacs folder were in both scenarios synchronized bidirectional. But only if a contact has been placed in the Cloud-for-Customer: Contacts folder and is added using the button"Add contact" to C4C (see screenshot).

Thanks in advance for explanation...

Hi Deborah,

Below are the functions available in Outlook Add In when you check them.

1) Download Contacts and 2) Download Contacts with Keep Contacts Synchronized

The “Download Contacts” button under Settings for Outlook plug-in will download data from My Contacts and their Accounts.
This is a onetime download – such contacts will not be automatically updated.
To keep changes made to contacts in Outlook and Cloud for Customer in sync, please select the “Keep Contacts Synchronized” option in add-in Settings.

Note: Contacts without Accounts will not be downloaded and new Contacts and Accounts may not be downloaded automatically to Outlook
even when you have the above option selected.

By default, Outlook uses the query “My Contacts” which is actually “My Account's Contacts".
The way this query is defined is we first get “My Accounts” and then get all Contacts for those Accounts.

3) Download only the Contacts with whom I have established Relationships

Using the option “Download only the contacts with whom I have established relationships” however will only return Contacts where the logged in user has a relationship maintained via “Relationships” facet to a Contact So, in case you do not want to download all your Account’s contacts, but only the ones who have an relationship with you, you can now do so by selecting the above checkbox before you click on Download contacts.

4) Always Copy contacts

The add-in sidebar shows contextual info from Cloud for Customer. When a new e-mail is accessed in the Inbox, the plug-in searches for a match in Cloud for Customer using e-mail address of the sender of the e-mail. If a match is found the Contact shown in the side-bar. If you wish to automatically download such Contacts, keep the ‘Always Copy Contacts’ option is selected in the add-in Settings. Note, this setting would then also apply to any manually searched contact in the sidebar. In case you don't want to download such contact automatically, you can still choose to do so manually by clicking the "+" icon in the sidebar for the Contacts you wish to save locally.
