How to do GR differently for raw material and packaging material?

Hello Guys,

I want to do GR differently for raw material and packing material. Example-I have created a PO 100kg when material reached i want to do GR for raw material as 95Kg and 5kg as packing material how to to map in sap please suggest.

From your input, i think you should separate two materials: 1 is rice the other is packaging material, then in PO you order two items. let's say

normally you receive 95kg of rice and 5kg of bags-> you may order just like that and maintain some delivery tolerance for each item in the PO or even in material master data then when goods arrive, you do GR and adjust as the correct quantity for each.

i think that is the easiest way to track your inventory.

Why don't you order it this way? How should SAP know that 5 kg of the ordered quantity is packaging? And what can you do at all with the used package if the product is still in?

Thanks for your reply but i don't have idea how many bags will come for raw material suppose i have order 100kg of rice but when truck reached at my location at that time i came to know how many bag is there then i want to do entry in sap separately for rice say 95kg and bags 5kg for inventory tracking properly.

This process requires much more input from your side, as it is not at all how other companies work. 2 and half line is certainly to less input.

What do you order? just the rice of the packaging as well?

What do you want to put into inventory? Just the rice or the packaging as well?

for what is the price? for what do you pay your vendor? just for the rice of for the packaging as well?
