Hello Experts,
Here is an interesting problem and anyone's help who has faced a similar problem will be much appreciated.
We use DMS module assisted by the workflow to process documents so that it (original application file) passes through different reviews and approvals before the document is released. Of course in many reviews, corrections are made to the original application file and for making those corrections (or editing), the DIR is opened with the transaction CV02N, then original application file is selected and change button is pressed. (The change button meant for changing the original application file)
There is a special status type 'O'-Original in work, that is available and whenever original application file is selected and change button pressed the lock is opened and the status of the DIR is automatically changed to the status whose status type is 'O' (for example to status IW-in work that has the status type 'O')
My query is "Is it possible to change an original application file without configuring a special status type 'O' ? Or is the status type "O" mandatory for editing an original application file?
I have tried this experiment and found out that sometimes the lock is opened and the original application file can be changed while sometimes it gives an error message. I could not understand why the system behaves inconsistently
Secondly, can the files loaded with MS Office Integration, be changed without special status type "O"? Our experiment here also shows that system behaves in an inconsistent manner. My main purpose of getting rid of status type 'O' is to make it possible for the users to change original application files without changing the status. I have observed many times that users set wrong status after editing and controlling their behaviour only by authorization is difficult. So trying to move towards more foolproof system.
