Trying to modify Crystal forms with Crystal Reports 2008

I have a copy of CR 2008 which is fine for creating new reports. My software vendor (Epicor Prophet 21) is migrating to Crystal reports based printing system from the old Adobe system. They have furnished me with pre-made reports which require some customization before I can put them into production. I am unable to modify these pre-made reports, and Activant has told me that it is a Crystal 2008 issue. Specifically they said:

Crystal reports has the ability to lock both individual fields   
within crystal, and lock the entire report from being modified.  
You may have to unlock the report, individual fields, or both.   
You need to remove this status from within Crystal 2008.

So...after contacting AP customer support they suggested I post my issue here. Can anybody give me a clue as to what I need to change within Crystal? Thanks in advance
